| Scorpion in the Sea and The Edge of Honor, the first two novels by retired Navy Capt. P. T. Deutermann, were marvelous tales of today's Navy at sea. They were marked by sharp action, deep plotting and in-depth characterization.
Official Privilege is still about the Navy, but it is a murder mystery set in Washington. The reader might expect the ship-driver author to be less familiar with this type of story. But such is not the case.
The superb plotting and characterization are here, as is suspense and a clear awareness of the dangersand dalliance that can thrive in official Washington.
